5 of Our Favorite Vegetarian Restaurants in Chiang Mai

Vegetarian Restaurants in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai is absolutely filled with delicious eats. From street side phad thai to afternoon tea at 5-star resorts, it has it all, including a a strong vegetarian and vegan food scene.

Fresh produce year round combined with a thriving yoga and wellness community make the city a popular spot for vegans and vegetarians…and there are plenty of restaurants to satisfy!

Here are some of our favorite vegetarian restaurants in Chiang Mai.

Anchan Vegetarian Restaurant

Off of Nimmanhaemin Road, Anchan Vegetarian Restaurant claims that you won’t miss the meat…and they’re right! Serving delicious and hearty Thai favorites packed with herbs and vegetables, this is a place that pleases both vegetarians and meat eaters.

Pun Pun

This permaculture and seed saving center runs three restaurants in Chiang Mai serving fresh, farm-to-table Thai and Western fusion meals. Its newest location close to Central Airport Plaza features an open air restaurant, bicycle repair shop, gardens, health food store and soon-to-be community and arts center. Of course, Pun Pun’s food is delicious too, and proceeds go toward supporting the center’s many programs.

Located in a large house and garden, Food-4-Thought serves giant salads, wraps and more and makes everything in-house – from the aioli to the tortillas. They also have excellent slow-brewed coffee and often have fresh kombucha and raw desserts for sale. While they do have some dishes with meat, most are vegetarian or vegan.

Free Bird Cafe

Part restaurant, part charity shop, part community center, Free Bird Cafe is run by a non profit organization and serves vegetarian Burmese, Thai and Western dishes along with a variety of healthy teas, smoothies and juices. Be sure to try the tea leaf salad! We love Free Bird Cafe so much that we even donate a portion of our proceeds to the restaurant and it’s overseeing organization, Thai Freedom House. Tian Zi

You can’t get much healthier, or more delicious, than Tian Zi. The organic and macrobiotic restaurant serves unique salads, teas and more for hardcore health nuts. It’s also gorgeous with an exotic garden, open air seating and an undiscovered feel. Join our November yoga holiday and we’ll take you there ourselves!
